Starfield System Requirements: Can I Run Starfield On My PC?

Bethesda has finally released the system requirements to the public via the Starfield Steam page. Here we can see both the minimum and the recommended system requirements, thankfully, they’re not as heavy as we originally predicted. However, it’s by no means an easy game to run. Starfield will be available on the Xbox Series-X as well as of course on Windows PC.

If the inner components of your PC are a mystery, read our quick walkthrough on how to look up your PC specifications and see if your current computer has what it takes to play the game. Your PC may not be up to the task, if not, we would encourage you to look to the foot of this page to see some suggested pre-built and self-built PCs that should do nicely for playing Starfield.

If you want to pick yourself up a copy of the game, look on Eneba closer to the release date of Starfield for the best deal.

Starfield System Requirements

Thankfully, we live in speculation no longer, as Bethesda finally released the confirmed system requirements of Starfield to the world via the Starfield Steam page.

Starfield Minimum System Requirements

The minimum requirements aren’t actually as dire as we once predicted, however, it’s always best to aim higher than the minimum recommended system requirements to ensure you get a good enjoyable experience out of the game.

OS: Windows 10 version 2004 (10.0.19041.0)
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 2600x, Intel Core i7-6800K
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 5700, NVIDIA GeForce 1070 Ti
DirectX: Version 12
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 125 GB available space

Starfield Recommended System Requirements

The recommended requirements are pretty hefty, the RTX 2080 slaps a hard restriction on anyone running a 10 series Nvidia GPU, as none of them come close to the RTX 2080 in terms of performance. We’d like to think that this kind of specification is based on 1440p 60FPS, but this reality is unlikely at best.

OS: Windows 10/11 with updates
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, Intel i5-10600K
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080
DirectX: Version 12
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 125 GB available space

Unfortunately, these requirements do not come with any sort of target resolution or frame rate, so we’ll have to see how well the game actually runs with these settings in mind.

Starfield is an original RPG from Bethesda, creators of the Elder Scrolls series and many of the more recent Fallout games. The game will be set in space in a sci-fi future and will feature some gameplay elements common to Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls titles, but also quite a few new mechanics. We don’t know much about the inner workings of the game just yet, however, we have a feeling that more will be revealed soon since the release date is rapidly approaching.

What Gaming PC Do We Recommend To Play Starfield?

To play Starfield at 1080p on the lower graphical presets, you will likely want something like one of our $600 self-builds. A $1,500 build is the sort of power you need to be looking at to play the game on the higher graphical settings at 1080p, and you’ll probably need a $2,000 build to take things to 1440p or above resolutions at the higher settings.

If you don’t want to put together your own PC we’d suggest one of our pre-builds for under $800 to play at 1080p with a decent frame rate on the lowest settings. Higher graphical presets will require a PC at least as powerful as a $1,500 pre-build or a $2,000 pre-build if you want to go to a 1440p or higher resolution.
